Housing Support

BASOVCA supports eligible households through housing assistance initiatives aimed at improving the safety and suitability of children’s living environments.

Renovation of Dilapidated Homes

Unsafe or deteriorating housing can expose children to health risks and physical danger.

BASOVCA supports the renovation of dilapidated homes belonging to vulnerable households where resources permit. These improvements help provide safer living conditions and protect children from environmental hazards.

Provision of Essential Household Materials

A home requires more than walls and a roof.

To improve the quality of life for vulnerable households, BASOVCA provides essential household materials to eligible families based on identified needs and available resources.

Support may include items that improve children’s comfort, safety, hygiene, and daily living conditions, helping caregivers provide a more stable environment for their children.

Family-Based Care

Children develop best within caring family environments.

Whenever it is safe and appropriate, BASOVCA promotes family-based care by supporting parents, guardians, and extended family members in providing stable, nurturing homes for vulnerable children.

Strengthening families helps preserve children’s identity, emotional well-being, cultural connections, and sense of belonging.

Alternative Care Support

In situations where family care is temporarily or permanently unavailable, BASOVCA works with relevant authorities and child welfare institutions to ensure that children receive appropriate alternative care that prioritizes their safety, development, and best interests.

Every placement is guided by child protection principles and the goal of ensuring that children grow up in caring, supportive environments.

Community-Based Care and Protection

Communities play an essential role in ensuring children’s safety and well-being.

BASOVCA collaborates with Community Mobilizers, Ward OVC Leagues, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and local stakeholders to identify vulnerable households, monitor children’s welfare, and respond promptly to cases requiring shelter or care support.

This community-based approach encourages shared responsibility and strengthens local ownership of child welfare initiatives.

Caregiver Support

Supporting children also means supporting those who care for them.

BASOVCA provides guidance and capacity-building opportunities for caregivers to strengthen parenting skills, improve household management, and create positive home environments where children can flourish.
